Super Mario Maker 2 is a Mario level editor released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. It is a sequel to Super Mario Maker and features even more elements. One of the main additions is a Super Mario 3D World style which resembles that game in a 2D style along with adding numerous elements from those games like the Super Bell and Clear Pipes.

Gameplay[]

The biggest change is that element selection is now radial instead of a large dropdown menu. The quick bar is still at the top of the screen but, when selecting an element, the player chooses a type of element and then uses the control stick in the direction they want to select the element. One of the main new additions is the slopes which come in two varieties. The player drags the slope along the surface to determine its length. The game also has a new autoscroll tool which lets the player determine the direction the level scrolls in. The water level can be changed. Some enemies can have new properties. For example, thwomps are now able to move sideways.

In addition to the new Super Mario 3D World style, there are several new themes: Desert, Snow, Forest and Night. It is unclear how many of the 3D World elements are exclusive to that game.
