Splatoon 2 is a 2017 third-person shooter game for the Nintendo Switch. It was first shown during the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer. It is a sequel to Splatoon, with slight differences, such as new hairstyles.

History[]

The game was teased on 20 October, 2016, in the First Look at Nintendo Switch trailer. It was properly announced during the Nintendo Switch presentation livestream on 12 January, 2017, confirming that it is a sequel, and not an updated Splatoon port in the vein of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Gameplay[]

Splatoon 2 plays like its Wii U predecessor, Splatoon, but with many new weapons to utilize. To compensate for the Nintendo Switch's lack of a dual-screen layout, the X button is now pressed to show the map menu, where a teammate to Super Jump to can be selected using the Directional Buttons.

Furthermore, as a result of the right control stick's position being different from the Wii U GamePad, B is used to jump instead of X, like in the original Splatoon. Other than these, the controls are unchanged.

In multiplayer, images of each player's weapon are shown in the squid icons at the top of the screen.

The game supports local multiplayer, even when the Nintendo Switch Console is taken on the go.

More Hero Mode level elements are to appear in the new maps, such as Ink Railings being added to Moray Towers.
